UPDATED PHOTOS COMING SOON, but "Squatch" is now ready for his new farm.

We are often asked for an older dog, or one that does not need trained from a pup, especially for first time farms or for a farm looking to replace an older LGD.  For the first time, we've held on to one of our pups for much longer training.  We currently have a badger male LGD, that was born June 13th, 2024.

"Squatch" is 1/4 Italian Maremma and 3/4 Great Pyrenees, but his coat and looks are more Pyrenees than Maremma.

Squatch has been raised 100% on the farm with his parents as trainers.  He has no issues with chicken, ducks, turkeys, goats, cattle and other dogs.  We could expose him to hogs if his new farm would like, but we tend to wait until we know where the pup is going in case there is a ferral hog issue a the new farm.

Squatch can hold his own when goats come near his food, but would never hurt the goats/chicken.  He is super friendly with children and the public.  He is not potty trained or leash trained, as he is a full time LGD on our farm.

You are more than welcome to come see him, or we're happy to FaceTime you too, if you happen to be further away.  We don't anticipate doing this again, so this is your chance to get an older trained pup without any issues.   We simply kept him longer for training, and will continue to keep him here until we find a farm that needs him!

If you are looking for a puppy, you can find our newest litter for sale here:  https://www.willowcityfarm.com/product-page/december-2024-livestock-guardian-dog-deposit-only

They will be ready for their new farms the first week of February.

Willow City Farm breeds, trains, and sells Livestock Guardian Dogs to approved farms.

All our livestock guardians come exposed to goats, sheep, horses, cows, alpacas, poultry (all kinds) and most importantly, other dogs (including family pets (2 Great Danes and a chihuahua), people and children! Our children are ages 13, 11 and 4, and our working farm is open to the public. Pups come well-socialized from a young age.  We will not expose the pups to our hogs unless requested, as many of our pups are placed in areas where wild boar are a common predator.

All pups will be exposed from birth to chicken and goats full time in their own pasture. From about 5 weeks and up they can be moved to a pasture with horses, cattle, alpaca, and hogs if requested. We have six total adult livestock guardians training our pups on about 75 acres.

When you place your deposit, we encourage you to let us know about your farm so that we can be sure we expose them to an environment that will be similar to their new farm.

You are welcome to come see them as they grow, and we're also happy to work with your pup specifically with the animals you'll have them work. For instance, do you have a turkey farm? We'll be sure to raise them in the poultry pasture so they come as ready as they can to your farm!

Our working LGDs can trace 10 generations of working dogs. We sell them as working dogs, but every once in a while we have a dog that we feel may make a better family pet than a working dog. When that happens, we will happily place our Great Pyrenees in a family home that makes the best match for pup and family.  Our dogs are not registered, nor do we provide any breeding papers as they are intended to be LGDs and not show dogs.

Sorry, deposits are non-refundable.
